Why do translators travel to the country whose languages they translate from?
As already explained, translating is not just adding one word to another in a sentence. It is also a matter of background, culture and curiosity: as in everyday life, languages change and evolve: what we learnt 20 years ago may be obsolete today (wordings, turns of phrases, etc.) and like any other job, we have to keep our language level on top: knowing new words or turns of sentences in our work will help us translate in a more professional, efficient and accurate way. So going to the countries whose languages we speak and write is not only for pleasure, it also keeps us updated about new idiomatic trends and language habits and it is a sign to our customers that we are always doing our best to understand and adapt to their needs.
